Stlye That Buck & Be Merry

Tis the season !

The Holiday’s are very quickly approaching and it’s about time for something refreshing and new.

There are some great holiday buys and trend in designers collaborating with global distributers like H&M, TopShop, Target and well you see where we are going with this.

Fresh from her fantastical Introducing Madam Sonia Rykiel .

The spitfire redhead, Ms. Rykiel is the queen of sweaters and yummy knits, but with this collection she brings some refinement and soft natural colors to everyday lingerie. While collaborations are nothing new this venture does mark the first time affordable and gorgeous under garments are available from a national retailer. No more searching for those basic Calvins and the staples from VS.

Another hot spot to find amazing negligees (+everything else you could ever want!!) is TopShop. With an online store shipping select items to the US, stores in NYC popping up, and a few secret places to find pieces in LA – this company is Ahh-mazing. The studio collections are always fashion forward and inspiring.

TopShop provides the opportunity for local (UK) designers to sell their collections in stores and online thru studio collection features. Between that and the Unique line, TopShop’s own in-house design team’s seasonal effort – TopShop’s collaboration with Kate Moss just adds the company to the list of retailers cashing in.

Hurry While you can still ship before Christmas…

Jewels for Your Shoes

From the runway to the streets donning your kicks with some chains and sparkle is a trend seen on the SPR 2010 runways of Lanvin and Doo Ri.

Doo Ri and Lanvin Spring 2010 Runway

These shoe chains immediately add a cool touch to your typical heel and even Doc Martins.

2bandits.com Shoe Chains ($70/pair)

Luckily for those frugal in their approach to style there are sites that make it affordable to don the look of the runway.  Our fav is New York brand The 2 Bandits whose shoe jewels inspiration range from hard core biker chick to earthy Navajo girl.

Breaking News: American Apparel Likes Thick Eyebrows

As a major fan of American Apparel there are two things that totally made us go hmmmmmm.  According to Jezebel.com, the CEO Dov Charney is a  Pervert (he had a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him)  and wait for it an eye brow facist!

American Apparel Peverted Eyebrow Facist CEO Dov Charney

A disgruntled employee leaked Charney’s company newsletter telling women employees to wear their brows like Brooke Shields and not like the poor unexpecting AA employee’s whose face he chose to crop out.

The Proof aka American Apparel Company Newsletter

All TSA wants to know is will Charney be dropping some additional coin to the $8/hr these AA employees make to get their eyebrows up to par?  Yeah probably not but it was worth asking.

Thanks Miu Miu But Praise You Nylon!

Thanks Miu Miu But Praise You Nylon!

MIU MIU RUNWAY

Nylon took the DJDIY (damn just do it yourself) approach to Miu Miu’s sparkle and bedazzled knee highs and made it themselves.

This just proves some $425 socks are worth making on your own.

Below is the Nylon alternative:

1.  Take a pair of heavy wool or cotton socks (ours were from Falke, but it doesn’t matter – yours can be from the back of your closet).

2.  Buy packs of sequins and beads from your local craft store,  Keep the color palette tight – silvers, rose-golds, very light pinks, black, and clear baubles only.  We actually took a confetti pack and sorted the colors we needed from the rest of the sparkle pack, which took about an hour.

SPARKLE !

3.  Break out a needle and thread, and gently sew the sequins in clusters.  Make sure you don’t sew anything on the sock’s foot, or you won’t be able to walk!

THE TEDIOUS PART

4.  Wear them around.  Make people jealous.  You know the drill.

VOILA!

Total cost:  $20-$30, depending on how fancy you want to get with the socks!

Now for the baller alternative:

1. Drop the coin
2.  Wear them around
3. Make people jealous
